San Clemente, Calif., MARCH 16, 2023 – Gilson Daub, a leading workers’ compensation defense and subrogation law firm, today announced that Julio E. Martinez has joined the firm as managing partner of its headquarters office in Orange County, Calif.
A seasoned professional with a knack for leadership, Julio has been managing teams and handling workers’ compensation claims since becoming an attorney in 2007.

Julio joins Gilson Daub from Testan Law where he was the firm’s regional managing partner for Southern California. He also served as co-managing partner of Adelson, Testan, Brundo, Novell & Jimenez for more than nine years before that. Julio started his legal career at plaintiffs’ firm, Mehr & Alvandi, where he represented injured workers in workers’ compensation and employment related matters, so he is also uniquely versed in the applicants’ positions to ultimately effectuate the best legal defense for his current clients.
Passionate about issues of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB), Julio has consistently prioritized improving diversity in the workers’ compensation industry throughout his career. Most recently, in August 2022, he was appointed Board Member of the Hispanic Insurance & Risk Management Association (HIRMA) as their Director of Legal Affairs. He is also a frequent speaker at many industry conferences.
Julio graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, with a Bachelor of Science degree in neuroscience in 1998. He went on to receive his Juris Doctorate in 2007 from Pacific Coast University School of Law, graduating with distinction. Julio was admitted to the California State Bar in December of 2007 and he is a member of the Orange County Bar Association and the Hispanic Bar Association of Orange County. In 2019, Julio received the prestigious designation of Certified Litigation Management Professional (CLMP) from the CLM’s Litigation Management Institute.
