Gilson Daub Expands Practice Areas To Include Civil Litigation

Seasoned attorney Nevin R. Kirkland joins the Firm’s Oklahoma City office to lead the new focus

OKLAHOMA CITY – December 13, 2023Gilson Daub, a national law firm that has traditionally focused on workers’ compensation defense and subrogation, today announced that it is expanding its practice areas to include a focus on civil litigation. Joining the team to lead this effort is Nevin R. Kirkland, a trial attorney who has more than 20 years of litigation experience.

“2023 has marked a year of major expansion for Gilson Daub. We opened three new offices and grew our team across the country more than 26%,” said Brent Daub, Gilson Daub’s senior founding partner. “As we continue our growth trajectory, we looked at practice areas that would both complement and enhance our current client service offerings. Civil litigation is a very logical next step, and an experienced attorney like Nevin was a perfect fit to help us lead the charge through our Oklahoma City office.”

Nevin joins Gilson Daub from Edmonds Cole, where his practice has historically focused primarily on litigation with a particular emphasis on insurance disputes, construction defects, and personal injury, both at the trial and appellate level. As such, he brings with him to Gilson Daub a broad range of trial experience, having obtained successful jury verdicts in cases ranging from motor-vehicle accidents to commercial disputes to insurance bad faith cases in both state and federal courts. He has argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and is admitted to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court. Nevin completed his undergraduate education and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1999 before obtaining d a Juris Doctor degree from the Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2003 where he served as a member and editor for the Oklahoma City University Law Review from 2001-2003. Prior to law school, he served eight years in the United States Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserve.

Steve Hanna, managing attorney of Gilson Daub’s Oklahoma City office, adds: “We very much welcome Nevin and his deep experience in this area of law to our team here in OKC. This is an exciting next step for our office and the entire firm as many of our workers’ compensation defense clients also need civil defense counsel and we are now able to offer both. There is a definite market of clients requesting both services and I forecast that this practice area will grow significantly across more of our offices in 2024.”

Nevin officially started with the firm on December 4. The firm’s Oklahoma office is 7301 Broadway Extension, Suite 228, Oklahoma City, OK 73116. To learn more about Gilson Daub, visit gilsondaub.com.
