Gilson Daub Opens Chicago Office
Distinguished workers’ comp attorney Lizzie Vicars joins the Firm as Partner and Managing Attorney to oversee the new location
CHICAGO – June 20, 2024 – Gilson Daub, a leading workers’ compensation defense, subrogation, and civil litigation law firm, today announced that it has opened a new office in Chicago as part of its strategic expansion efforts in the Midwest and across the country. Managed and led by local attorney, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Vicars, the new location signals the Firm’s further investment in the state of Illinois and across the Midwest. It also complements Gilson Daub’s impressive overall strategic national growth trajectory, having opened six new offices over the past two years.
“Just last May, we proudly announced a team of attorneys joining the Firm to open our first Illinois office in Peoria. That location has seen tremendous success across the state and having a strong Chicago presence was an obvious next step,” commented Brent Daub, senior founding partner of Gilson Daub. “When we were introduced to Lizzie, we knew that she was the perfect fit to spearhead our efforts locally. She has strong Chicago-area roots, and she brings with her the unique experience of having worked on both the defense and plaintiff sides of workers’ compensation litigation throughout her career,” continued Daub. “She also already has a great rapport with our other Illinois-based attorneys. Lizzie has a bright future here at Gilson Daub and I can’t wait to see what she accomplishes in this new role.”
An Illinois native, Vicars has been an attorney working in the workers’ compensation field for more than a decade. She began her legal career in 2014 at Hennessey & Roach, P.C. where she defended employers in workers’ compensation cases across a variety of industries, including transportation, distribution, construction, manufacturing, trucking, and more. In 2021, she became the youngest Partner at that firm. Most recently, in 2023, Vicars joined personal injury and workers’ compensation firm Schweickert Ganassin Krzak Rundio, LLP, where she worked on the plaintiffs’ side of litigation, representing work injury victims and their families.
Vicars received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and International Relations from Millikin University, and she earned her law degree from The John Marshall Law School. She is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association and the Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association. On a personal note, she is an accomplished violinist and performs regularly with the DuPage Symphony Orchestra.
“There is immense potential for strategic industry growth here in Chicago and throughout Illinois, so I’m excited to help the Firm lead these efforts locally, regionally, and beyond,” remarked Vicars. “Additionally, Gilson Daub’s unwavering commitment to excellence in client service aligns perfectly with my professional values, so I am looking forward to collaborating with such a dynamic team and contributing to the Firm’s impressive national growth. With a strong foundation and a clear vision for the future, I am confident that we will achieve remarkable success and make a substantial impact in our field.”
