The workers’ comp law firm has doubled its case load in Kansas and Missouri over the last year under Mills’ leadership
San Clemente, Calif. – April 27, 2022 – Gilson Daub, a leading workers’ compensation defense, subrogation, general and longshore liability law firm, today announced the promotion of Weston Mills to managing attorney of the firm’s Kansas City office. Under his leadership, Gilson Daub has doubled its case load in Kansas and Missouri over the last year. In his new role, Mills will oversee workers’ comp litigation for the firm’s fast-growing roster of clients, which includes a leading online global retailer and national transportation company, throughout the Midwest region.

Prior to joining Gilson Daub, Mills served as an attorney for Halbrook Wood, P.C. in Prairie Village, Kan. and a law clerk for Stucky & Fields in Kansas City. Throughout his career, Mills has represented both self-insured employers and a variety of insurance companies helping them reach their litigation goals. He also has experience in assisting employers with employment discrimination-related matters.
Mills received his J.D. from The University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law and his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Southwestern College where he served as captain of the school’s football team for two years.
In addition to his role at Gilson Daub, Mills also currently serves as President of Kids Chance of Kansas, a non-profit focused on providing educational opportunities and scholarships for the children of workers seriously or fatally injured on the job. Mills also is a frequent speaker on the topic of workers’ compensation having presented most recently at the Kansas Self Insured Association Conference, KCMBA Work Comp Institute and CMSA Panel Presentation.

Additionally, Gilson Daub also announced the hire of Samantha Pappas as associate attorney of the firm’s Kansas City office. Pappas received her J.D. from the Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kan. and her bachelor’s degree in chemical and biomedical engineering from the University of Kansas. Her previous experience includes serving as an intern for the Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office and an associate at a private workers’ comp law firm in Topeka, Kan.
