    My mother has always been my inspiration for all things in life. She’s incredibly motivational and supportive of me and my goals.

    Disneyland 100%! I wish I could live there!

    How do I pick just one?? I guess my favorite movie would be One Day with Anne Hathaway! Always makes me cry. Or Ratatoullie. That’s a good one. 

     

    1. What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

    The craziest thing I’ve ever done is zip-lining on Catalina island! 

     

    1. What are you currently watching on Netflix or TV?

    I’m currently obsessed with the Netflix original The Circle. 

     

    1. If you were a super hero, what would your super power be?

    I think my super power would be teleportation. 

     

    1. Who would you most like to swap places with for a day?

    I think it would be an incredible experience to swap places with one of the Justices on the Supreme Court to see what it is like. 

     

    1. What’s the best meal you ever had?

    The best meal I ever had was at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant Hell’s Kitchen on the Las Vegas strip. I got to have a Beef Wellington on my 22nd birthday. It was one of the most glorious things I’ve ever had.

     

    1. If you could visit anywhere in the world you’ve never been, where would you go?

    Greece! I would love to have the chance to explore the greek islands! It looks so beautiful.

     

    1. What are some of your pet peeves?

    Chewing with your mouth open!

     

    1. What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?

    I can make my whistle sound like a bird chirp? Not sure if that counts as a secret talent?!

    One of my favorite family traditions is playing board games with my family on Christmas Eve.

  1. Who inspires you?

My father inspires me.  He remains active in the lives of his children and grandchildren and is a very youthful 80 years old.  

 

  1. What was the best concert you ever went to?
The best concert I have ever attended was a Police/Elvis Costello double bill.  I still love the music from my high school days!

 

 

  1. Where’s your favorite place in the world?

My favorite place of the world is Edinburgh, Scotland. I love the history and people there.  It’s truly a wonderful place, and the whisky ain’t bad, either!

 

 

  1. If you could be any animal, which would you be?

Right now, it seems the three-toed sloth appears to have it made.  Just hangs around in trees and relaxes all day.  

 

 

  1. What’s the last book you read?
The last book I read is the Devil in the White City about a serial killer during the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago. 

 

  1. What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about my family.  I have a beautiful wife and two sons, ages 16 and 20, and I love to spend my time with them.  

 

 

  1. What’s your favorite movie?

My favorite movie is Princess Bride.  It s a perfect movie, and I will not accept any other opinions.

 

 

  1. What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

I went skydiving when I was law school… never again. 

 

 

  1. What are you currently watching on Netflix or TV?

My wife and I just finished up The Crown and Peaky Blinders on Netflix.  We are now searching for another binge-worthy show.

 

 

  1. If you were a super hero, what would your super power be?

I would think the ability to fly would be the best.  Getting from one place to another without having to drive or walk would be great.

 

 

  1. Who would you most like to swap places with for a day?

Rory McIlroy… play golf all around the world with all that talent.  Just give me a taste of that for one day.  

 

  1. What’s the best meal you ever had?

The best meal I have ever had was at Melville Castle outside of Edinburgh, Scotland right after renewing my vows with my wife, Tamara.

 

 

  1. If you could visit anywhere in the world you’ve never been, where would you go?

My wife and I want to take a river cruise down the Danube River through Germany.  That just seems like a ton of fun. 

 

 

  1. What are some of your pet peeves?

Unexcused tardiness.  Hate it.  Drives me crazy.  Also, yellow mustard put on a sandwich without asking.  It’s the worst condiment.  

 

 

  1. What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?
I am pretty good at trivia.  I am part of a trivia team on Tuesday nights and we usually win.  

 

 

  1. Which four individuals, living or dead, would you like to eat dinner with the most?
I would like to have dinner with Abraham Lincoln, Jesse Owens,  Thomas Jefferson, and Robin Willams to keep things a little light. 

 

 

  1. What is the best gift you ever received?

There have been lots of great ones, but I just got a meat thermometer that allows you to check the temperature of your grilled meat through an app on your phone.  I am pretty psyched to try it out.  

 

 

  1. Name one thing on your bucket list?

I would like to go zip-lining in Hawaii.  That seems really cool.

 

 

  1. What is your favorite family tradition?
We get together on Sunday nights for dinner from time to time.  Lots of happy memories…. 

 

 

  1. What is your least favorite dessert?

Pumpkin pie is vastly overrated.  There are just so many better pies out there.

My Mom. She moved to this country without knowing the language, without family, and was always there for my sister and I every step of the way.

I enjoy music festivals. My favorite would have to be Outsidelands in San Francisco, where I got to see Kygo, Aurora, Dean Lewis, SYML, and Twenty One Pilots perform.

A merlin falcon. It’s cute and I would love to be able to fly

I am passionate about learning, whether it is through reading, studying foreign languages, or even life experiences.

Craziest thing…probably commuting for five hours each day when I was in college.

I’m a fan of military history and there are countless instances of individuals doing exceptional things under the most challenging of circumstances.  If you’ve never heard of USMC Corporal Tony Stein, Samuel Whittemore or Audie Murphy, they’re worth taking the time to get acquainted.  

 

  1. What was the best concert you ever went to?

 

 I saw Metallica twice within one week.  Either of those shows.

 

 

  1. Where’s your favorite place in the world?

 

My grandfather’s dinner table in Brooklyn.  Tough to beat dinner with family.

 

 

  1. If you could be any animal, which would you be?

 

Peregrine Falcon.  Being able to fly at 240 mph would be a lot of fun.

My children inspire me.  They make me want to be a better person and I strive everyday to be a mom they can look up to and are proud of.

A 90’s R&B concert I went to with my best friend a few years ago – the absolute best time and music ever!

 

  1. Where’s your favorite place in the world?

Salto El Limon, Las Terrenas – Dominican Republic, for it’s breathtaking scenery and because I had the most amazing time with my family there. 

 

  1. If you could be any animal, which would you be?

I would say a Dog because I’m dependable and always want to make others happy 

 

  1. What’s the last book you read?

Managing People……do I get extra brownie points now? 🙂

 

  1. What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about helping others and making a positive impact in their lives.

I can’t just choose one so some of my favorites are: Sixteen Candles, Good Will Hunting, Adjustment Bureau and The Notebook of course

It would have to be driving from Alaska to Las Vegas while following my dad’s old moving van that would only go up to 50mph.  It took us about 6 days, so I ended up going crazy that’s for sure.

I just finished watching Unbelievable and about to start watching The Staircase, along with any Dateline or 20/20 episode I haven’t already seen (yes, I am an undercover CSI….super undercover)

 

  1. If you were a super hero, what would your super power be?

To become invisible when both of my kids run past their father and ask me for something to eat right before bed time.

 

  1. Who would you most like to swap places with for a day?

It would have to be my sister Judy – she travels all around the world, gets to eat great food, meets amazing people and is one of the strongest woman I know.

 

  1. What’s the best meal you ever had?

Hands down, my mom’s Sancocho (a Dominican Stew) with a side of white rice, on a rainy day….bliss 

 

  1. If you could visit anywhere in the world you’ve never been, where would you go?

Poor grammar, people who reply to all when they are asked not to, not washing your hands after using the restroom, and disrespectful children

Well it might not be a talent, but I love to sing, so I feel sorry for my poor car because when I’m stuck in rush hour traffic, oh it’s on.

 

  1. Which four individuals, living or dead, would you like to eat dinner with the most?

Not sure about 4, but I would have loved to enjoy a meal with my grandmother – on my father’s side – since she past when I was very young.

  1. What is the best gift you ever received?

My 1st best gift was my son, since he is the oldest.  6 years later, my baby girl.  I thank God and my husband for them each day.

Bora Bora, on a balcony overlooking the ocean with a glass of wine….one day

 

  1. What is your favorite family tradition?

Our crazy, fun, annual family gatherings, since it brings so much joy to my parents and we are just a mess together.

I would have to say flan, even though everyone says my mom makes the best.

 My wife. She is one of the most selfless and kind people I have ever met.

Street Scene 2006 in San Diego. A lot of cool music and I was able to get to know my future wife.

My bed right when I wake up on a cold day.

A Liger. They’re crazy looking.

My wife and I went to this place called the Chef’s Table one year on Valentine’s Day. We had a 7 course meal that had some unique stuff and some really good wine. 

13. If you could visit anywhere in the world you’ve never been, where would you go?

I’ve never traveled internationally so pretty much anywhere in Europe. 

 

14. What are some of your pet peeves?

There’s so many. But, to name a handful, 1) a lack of self awareness 2) People who breath loudly 3) People that do not know how to use your/you’re and there, their and they’re 4) Mobile orders at Starbucks when you’ve ordered in person and been standing waiting for 15 minutes…I’m there, I should get precedence.  

 

15. What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?

I can juggle a little. 

 

16. Which four individuals, living or dead, would you like to eat dinner with the most?

My brother, Tiger Woods, Daniel Day Lewis, Ernest Hemingway. 

 

17. What is the best gift you ever received?

Aside from my children, probably a heavily coveted set of Titleist golf clubs when I was 14.

Go watch the Masters in person.

We’ve started doing Elf on the Shelf with our kids at Christmas and it’s a lot of fun.

Gilson Daub is proud to announce the opening of its first Hawaii office in Honolulu. Gilson Daub is a law firm specializing in all matters related to workers’ compensation defense, including but not limited to cases in chief, subrogation and Labor Code violations.

 

Founder and Senior Partner Brent Daub is enthusiastic about opening this new office. “Taking our proven strategies to the state of Hawaii is an exciting opportunity for the firm. The Hawaii team will consist of attorneys Brent Daub, Derek Turbin, and Joan Bernstein.  They have combined experience in Hawaii and California of over 50 years. The office opened for business on July 23, 2019 and will be located at the Pacific Guardian Center, on Bishop Street and Queen Street in downtown Honolulu. While the office location is in Honolulu, the team will serve all of the Hawaiian islands. 1. Who inspires you?

I am most inspired by those who exhibit selflessness and generosity. My mother has always emulated this for me.

 

2. What was the best concert you ever went to?

Spice Girls was my first concert (with my mom) and will always hold a special place in my heart.

 

3. Where’s your favorite place in the world?

South Africa is the most beautiful place I have visited inside and out. The compassionate people, captivating scenery, and rich history are incomparable. I cannot wait to visit again.

 

4. If you could be any animal, which would you be?

My dogs seem to have a pretty good life… eat, sleep, treat, repeat.

 

5. What’s the last book you read?

AMA Guides 5th Edition. It is on my circulating list. Captivating read.

 

6. What are you passionate about?

Justice. It takes many forms, but ultimately that is what motivates me and riles me up.

 

7. What’s your favorite movie?

Dirty Dancing. That might be the movie that initiated my love of dance.

Handmaids Tale and Queen of the South are the current guilty pleasures.

I would freeze time if I could. I always wish there was more time in the day to spend laughing and dancing:)

The President of course. I was principal for a day in 6th grade, so I’m sure I could handle the job.

My most recent favorite was menu tasting in Cabo San Lucas- a molcajete filled with skirt steak, chicken, nopales, chorizo, panela cheese, black beans and avocado. Drool.

My dad would suffice <3

 

17. What is the best gift you ever received?

My engagement ring!

My mom’s bucket list item is riding a waverunner. So taking her on that adventure tops my list.

Christmas time is always extra special.
